How to care for your Philodendron “Rojo Congo”

The Rojo Congo prefers moderate watering, and it is best if you allow the

first 3cm to dry before re-watering.

The Rojo Congo benefits from a slow-release fertiliser every 4-6 months

and the periodic use of a liquid foliage boosting solution in the warmer months.

Can grow in shade but prefers indirect filtered light near an east or west facing window. The plant is cold sensitive and also does not like extended periods of extreme heat, which is why they are best suited to being grown indoors.

Keep a watch out for aphids and mealy bugs. If leaf discolouration or wilting occurs this is more often due to a water / light imbalance. If leaves start to yellow this is an indication that the plant is being overwatered.

Conversely, if the leaves develop brown edges, then the plant will need to be watered.
